Parenting Guidance
Working directly with the parents alone, these sessions help to better understand children and help address issues relating to trauma, loss, illness, anxiety, ADHD and other concerns.
Understanding children
These sessions are for those parents who want to better understand their child, as well as learn how they can adapt their parenting to best suit their child’s needs. The child could be struggling for reasons related to trauma, loss, illness, ASD, ADD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, or other reasons. The parents could be struggling to build secure attachments, or manage challenging behaviour, disordered eating, difficulties with sleep, and more.
With more than 15 years experience in working with families I have supported parents who are struggling to know how to best help their children for all sorts of reasons. I find that often parents have tried so many things with little progress being made. In Parenting Guidance sessions, I work directly with the parents only. The parents will identify their best hopes for their child, this might be in relation to the child’s behaviour at home or at school, it might be about their mood, their self-esteem, their relationship with friends or family members, or something else. I can help to educate parents about why their child might have struggles in the way they do and together we can work out how they can become the best parent they would hope to be and in turn how they can help their child to become the best version of themselves.
Parenting Workshops
In addition to working directly with parents in Parenting Guidance sessions, I also run Parenting Workshops both virtually and in person to parents, foster carers, adopters, special guardians and connected persons.
